This picture looks like something from Dofantasy; most likely at the start where the male character about to attack somewhere in a search of the female character(s) or at the end when someone is about to attack the male character. I didn't use the term protagonist because many Dofantasy stories are written from the woman's perspective making her the protagonist (I also dislike the term male and female protagonist because in a story there's only one protagonist).

The helmets the soldiers outside of the castle are wearing look Islamic but they seem to be holding European standards (banners). I guess this would work if they're meant to be Russians, Georgians, or part of the Byzantine Empire as these were Christian countries that dressed in Middle Eastern style armour.

The cloaks are covering the armour so I can't say much about it but if a soldier can afford a horse they can usually afford at least chain mail or brigandine. Poorer soldiers would wear leather, a padded coat (gambeson), or no armour. Soldier in the Middle East did wear chain but they also wore scale and lamellar (provided better protection against arrows).

Regarding weapons as swords were expensive only the wealthier soldiers used them with poorer soldier using spears and pole-arms. Middle Eastern armies used curves swords (sabre), while European soldiers used straight swords. Middle eastern armies also had more archers and horse archers.
